Jonathan Cape, 1966. Octavo. Original green wrappers, lettered in black and patterned with white publisher's motif. With dust jacket. Housed in custom blue quarter morocco cloth slipcase. A near-fine copy, creasing and rubbing to spine, otherwise in excellent condition for a proof copy, in like dust jacket. Uncorrected proof copy in proof jacket, one of just 350 copies produced in early 1966. Loosely inserted are two original letters from Fleming's typist Margaret Anderson to his secretary Beryl Griffie-Williams. This copy is from the significant Ian Fleming collection of Martin Schøyen (b.1940), whose private collection of manuscripts, which span all cultures and all time periods, is one of the largest and most comprehensive of its kind.
