London: Jonathan Cape, 1961. [Spy thriller] FIRST EDITION, Binding 'A'. Octavo (19 x 13cm), pp.254. Publisher's cloth-effect dark brown paper over boards with embossed skeleton hand design to upper board, gilt titles to spine, together with Binding 'A', in a lighter shade of covering material blocked in SILVER to the spine, without jackets. Both books free of owner names or inscriptions. 'A' is very good with some foxing to edges; 'B' is fine. A presentable pair of the sliver/gold foil variants. Most uncommon. According to Gilbert, "no priority exists... the binding lettered in silver is by far the more elusive" Item #62981
