Publisher's black cloth-effect paper over boards, decorated with heart motif to upper, lettered in red to spine. No inscriptions. Contents and edges very clean (top edge a little spotted/dusty). Cloth is clean and fresh with sharp corners, spine tips slightly pushed, small area of wear at foot to spine joint, red lettering/blocking is entirely free from rubbing (a common problem). A superior copy, lacking the scarce wrapper. Housed in an elegant gilt-stamped cloth clamshell box. Very good. First edition, third impression; the scarcest of all Jonathan Cape impressions, as confirmed by the Cape Archive's book production ledger. This is the novel which introduced the world to British secret agent James Bond 007. Item #64479
