Publisher's black cloth-effect paper over boards, with gilt titles to spine, and the pictorial dust-wrapper, based on the familiar Chopping 'trompe l'oeil' designs from the Ian Fleming first editions. With Jonathan Cape printed slip 'with the Author's compliments'. Very near fine. An uncommon presentation copy. Amis' first venture into the world of James Bond. He also wrote the light-hearted 'Book of Bond' in 1965, and the first post-Fleming 007 novel 'Colonel Sun' (1968). From the comprehensive archive assembled by Jon Gilbert (pencil ownership within). His encyclopaedic guide to the works of Ian Fleming (2012) won the 16th Breslauer Prize for bibliography. Item #67320
