Publisher's hardback cloth binding in pictorial dust-jacket illustrated by Barbara Walton. with the scarce promotional wraparound band. Author's gift note in blue ink to Eileen M. Cond's distinctive bookplate on fly-leaf: 'Very best wishes | to Eileen Cond | & her father | Berkely Mather. | December 1960.' Miss Cond's usual exemplary condition, with a small blue ink date note to fly-leaf. A crisp, fine copy in the striking p/c colour jacket and sash, lightly toned in places. The advertising band headed 'Ian Fleming says' reprints a seven-line section of Fleming's review of this thriller published in The Bookman. Fondly inscribed to a personal friend of the author, Eileen Cond, described in a letter as "my earliest aficionado." Well-known as a prominent collector of modern firsts, Miss Cond was also a correspondent of Ian Fleming, and the first Secretary to the James Bond Fan Club. Later part of the Jon Gilbert collection. Author Berkely Mather was much admired by Ian Fleming, and contributed to the screenplay for the first Bond film 'Dr. No' (1962). Item #67673
