Item #67756 The Man With The Golden Gun. Ian Lancaster FLEMING.

The Man With The Golden Gun.

New York, NY: New American Library, 1965. [Spy thriller] 'CHESSMAN' EDITION, bibliographer's copy. Octavo (22 x 14cm), pp.183; [1]. Publisher's 'antique-style' leather-effect green vinyl over boards, panelled spine tooled in gilt, black eps., yellow embroidered head and tail bands, top edge gilt, fore-edge untrimmed. Contents clean, light rubbing to extremities, chipped to headband. A near fine copy. The 'Chessman' edition uses the Book Club sheets, issued in a rather overly-described, cheaply produced 'special' binding, blocked with a chess piece (the knight) to spine and upper cover. Nevertheless, it is a rather scarce book, likely published as a presentation or gift edition (Gilbert, p437). This copy is from the comprehensive archive assembled by Jon Gilbert (pencil signature within). His encyclopaedic guide to the works of Ian Fleming (2012) won the 16th Breslauer Prize for bibliography. Item #67756
